Join us for the Clos du Lac Vineyard talk and walk, June 18 (Thursday), near Folsom Lake.  Clos du Lac (CDL) is a gated community surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and interconnected lakes, modeled after the southern France region.

The talk/walk, led by Brian Belmont the vineyard committee chair, will begin with shared wine under the canopy, discussion of vineyard practices, compare head trained and vertical spur pruning trellis systems in the vineyard.  Arrive at 5:30, vineyard tour at 6:00.

The vineyards are planted with Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah, Mourvedre and Petit Verdot.  Two things of note: 1) SHW members are doing a group buy on CDL grapes. These grapes are still available through our group buy (see this blogpost) or on your own if you have a macro bin.  CDL is not equipped to pick into anything other than macro bins; and 2) the Cabernet Franc CDL grapes earned a Double Gold and Best of Class at last year’s California State Fair.   Wine grapes are still available by the macro bin this season.

Please call/text or email Sue Nemeth (505) 553-4183 and snemeth2010@gmail.comif you are interested in attending.  Feel free to bring a wine and snack to share.

This is a joint event with Placer County Wine & Grape Association.
