SHW returns to the Turn Verein for the September 15th meeting, with a few changes to maximize the safety of all those attending.
Meeting Protocol. We will be meeting in the downstairs gymnasium which is at least twice the size of our upstairs room; seating will be spread out so that all members can choose their seating. We strongly encourage all to wear face masks when possible. Finally, members are encouraged to bring their own palate-refreshing snacks; no communal cheese and bread will be provided. Bring two wine glasses for the evaluations.
Meeting Program. Now on to the meeting! We welcome back Luke Laubaugh, winemaker at Heringer Estates, to evaluate member efforts at making red Bordeaux varietal wines (2018-2020 vintages). Red Bordeaux varietals include: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot.
Members who wish for their wines to be evaluated:
- bring two bottles of each wine to the meeting;
- print and bring two copies of the wine evaluation form that you will find HERE; and
- email Donna Bettencourt at email@example.com with the number of wines you’re bringing.
Jubilee Wine Entries. The final day for wine entries for the 2021 Jubilee Home Wine Competition is September 15th so if you have not already dropped off your entries, bring them to the meeting. Remember to enter your wines on-line prior to the meeting, and make sure your entries are labelled with the wine’s Entry ID number. No wines will be accepted unless they have been first entered on-line. Contact Chief Judge Donna Bettencourt at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
Thank you for taking the measures to keep all at the meeting comfortable. We look forward to seeing you all!
