Sacramento Home Winemakers’ Jubilee is a celebration of wine makers and food and wine. Come to the picnic and find out how you and your peers did in the Jubilee competition! The Jubilee starts on Saturday June 3 with the wine competition. The Picnic and Awards Party is on Sunday, June 4.
Wine Tasting. The competition’s wines are available for tasting at the Picnic including the best of’s – classes, divisions, and best of show. Wine entries are still rolling in and the numbers are promising with over 120 wines entered thus far. Entries closes on May 17. Don’t forget to enter yours!
Food: The Club provides the smoked / BBQ meats, chili beans, bread, and lots of water, and you provide a large potluck dish. Pitmaster Don Vinson will be slow smoking seasoned beef and marinated domestic lamb.
Label Competition: picnickers get to cast their ballots for their favorite wine labels and the winner will be revealed at the picnic. Enter your labels!
Silent Auction: help support the Club by bidding on the fun silent auction items.
You: in addition to a potluck dish (see reservation form for guidance), bring your wine glass, lawn chairs, and blankets to keep you comfy. Families and guests of members are welcome (guests should bring potluck dishes, also – we don’t want to run out of food!).
Reservations: make your reservations soon as space is limited. Reservations close on Friday, May 26. The party address will be provided upon reservations completion.
To help plan your fun:
- 1 pm – arrive earlier to avoid Loomis’ traffic jam
- 2 pm – lunch!
- 3 pm – awards and announcements
- 3:30 pm – Best of classes, divisions, and show wines tasting
For those of you who are new to the event, Judy’s place has 2 ½ acres with room to explore nature in the spring. Some of Judy’s lawn chairs are available, but Club members should bring their own lawn chairs, blankets, or whatever if they want to be sure to have a place to sit on the lawn under the trees.
The event is great fun – the trampoline and lawn games will be available, and the party sometimes goes until dark… so plan on making a day of it! Children, guests and pets (only if they are friendly to other pets) are welcome! The pool could be opened but children require full time parent supervision.
