Heavenly Farms Vineyards, located near Boeger Winery above Placerville, has biodynamically farmed Petite Sirah grapes that should be ready for harvest in 2 to 3 weeks. The owner was trained in biodynamic grape growing by some of the top consultants in the Country. We picked Tempranillo grapes from this vineyard recently and tasted their Tempranillo and Petite Sirah wines while there.
All Heavenly Farms wines are really good, and have a really interesting expression of place – biodynamic grapes of this quality are not typically available to us mere home winemakers ;-). The price is $1/lb and approximately 2 tons will be available in about 2 to 3 weeks. The grapes do not appear to have smoke taint, but our fermentation of their Tempranillo will be finished within two weeks, so we will be able to taste the finished wine to confirm this before the Petite Sirah harvest.
