Mirador Winery has Zinfandel, Syrah and Viognier for sale to home winemakers. All 3 varieties were planted in 2003.  The vineyards are at 2100’ altitude in Somerset (El Dorado County).

Zinfandel – Dupratt clone; root 3309-C. 10 tons available.   This clone is one of the oldest heritage clones ever to be grown in California. Developed at UC Davis’ campus vineyard. Makes a beautiful wine, balanced, great fruit and intensity. Farmed to no more than 3 tons per acre to enhance the quality of the fruit. Usually ready to pick first few weeks of October. $1,250 ton.

Syrah – Noir Clone; root 3309-C.  3 tons available. These are the same grapes grown in the mountains of northern Rhone. This grape makes a spectacular, full- bodied, fruit-forward wine with an elegant nose of blackberry, violets, and dark chocolate. Farmed to no more than 3 tons per acre to enhance the intensity of the fruit. Typically ripens mid-October. $1,500 ton.

Viognier – root 110-R.  4 tons available.  Wine made from these grapes make a spectacular, non-oily, highly floral wine with hints of peaches & pears. Farmed to no more than 3 tons per acre. Usually picks end of September. $1,350 ton.

•  For small quantities of grapes, buyers pick.  Picking bins are provided and a way to get them up to the scale in the winery.

•  A large-scale crusher/destemmer is available which is typically used to process ½ ton loads.
