Shaker Ridge Vineyard (El Dorado AVA) has a half-ton (1000-lb) lot of a field blend of Portuguese grape varietals from its well-known “Quinta” block available for sale.
The Quinta was planted in 2004/2005 with Touriga Nacional, Tempranillo (“Tinta Roriz”), Tinta Cao, Souzao, and Tinta Amarela in proportions suitable for a traditional port-style wine or dry red wine blend. Anchored by Touriga Nacional–which as a single varietal has gone into wines that have won gold medals in commercial wine competitions–wine blends made from the Quinta block have been perennial winners on the home wine-making circuit, including multiple Best of Show honors.
The fruit is fully bird-netted and will be harvested in the mid-September time frame on a single day; Shaker Ridge will do the picking. The client will receive, as a field blend, proportions of the different varietals making up the Quinta in proportion with the contribution of that varietal to the total Quinta harvest, e.g., if Touriga makes up 40% of the Quinta harvest, ~40% of their 1000 lbs will be Touriga.
To simplify harvest logistics, the grapes will be preferentially sold to a client who can take the entire half-ton in their own macrobin, though lots as small as 250 lbs will be considered if that is not possible.
