January 19, 2022 – General Meeting: White Rhone Varieties. This meeting will be virtual via Zoom. Guest Speaker: Susan Tipton, owner/winemaker of Acquiesce Winery and Vineyards. Spend an evening with trailblazing winemaker Susan Tipton as she shares her wine making journey, love of Rhone white wines, and decisions to focus on a winery that stands alone in the Lodi wine region. We’ll taste 5 of Acquiesce’s wines.

March 9 – Vineyard Soil, Water and Plant Tissue Testing (Virtual). This Wednesday Zoom kicks off the first in the Club’s Vineyard Series with guest speaker Danyal Kasapligil with DellaValle Labs. See here for the details.

April 20 – General Meeting: Wine Yeasts. Guest speaker: Shea Comfort “The Yeast Whisperer.” Shea has been focused on wine yeasts for most of his wine career. This meeting is a Q & A format where he’ll discuss answers to your questions.
April 27 – Climate Change and Terroir. This Wednesday 7 pm Zoom is the second installment of our Vineyard Series featuring winemaker and plant scientist John Troiano who will be presenting on the impacts of climate change and what it means for vineyards and wines. May 18 – General Meeting: Evaluation of Red Non-Bordeaux Wines and Website Overview. Guest evaluator: Chik Brenneman, winemaker and co-owner of Baker Family Wines in West Sacramento. Get your 2021 wines made from red grapes other than red Bordeaux varieties evaluated. SHW’s web guru Jim Garrett leads us through a website overview including a spiffy way to buy / sell / group buy grapes. Details here.
May 25 – Vineyard Decisions and Outcomes (Virtual). This Wednesday 7 pm Zoom is the third installment of our Vineyard Series. Elizabeth Standeven, Shaker Ridge Vineyard co-owner leads a discussion on vineyard decisions made during the growing season resulting in expected and unintentional outcomes. Blog post forthcoming.

June 15 – General Meeting: Wine Chemistry. Guest speaker: John Troiano, co-owner and winemaker for Wreckless Blenders Winery. Harvest is just around the corner so time to sharpen up the chemistry! Submit your wine chemistry questions.
June 25 (Saturday) – Jubilee Wine Competition. This is the Club’s annual club-exclusive wine competition when entries vie for the honors! Enter your wines and receive written feedback from the judges. Competition details here.
June 26 (Sunday) – Jubilee Picnic and Awards Ceremony. Top honors from the Jubilee Wine Competition are announced and everyone enjoys an afternoon in rural Loomis filled with the Jubilee’s wine competition tastings, food and fellow winemakers. Watch for the announcement.
July 16 (Saturday) – Blending Intensive with Pat Henderson. Sacramento. Details to follow.
July 20 – General Meeting: Evaluation of Red Bordeaux Wines. Guest evaluator: winemaker Luke Laubaugh. Participate in this roundtable format where both peers and the guest evaluator discuss members’ 2021 red wines made from Bordeaux variety grapes.
August 4 (Thursday) and 6 (Saturday) – Winemaking 101. Learn to make wine. This workshop is designed for aspiring and novice winemakers. Details to follow.
A Saturday in August – Cider Making 102. This workshop is for members who participated in 2021’s cider making class at Hemly Cider.
August 17 – General Meeting: Gadgets, Gizmos and Swap: Club members bring their winemaking innovations for show and tell. Also bring wine and wine-related items to swap.
September 21 – General Meeting: TBA
October 19 – General Meeting: Evaluation of members’ sweets / non-grapes / fortifieds / bubblies.
November 16 Meeting – General Meeting: Annual Meeting and Taste the Golds. Elect next year’s Club officers and taste members’ wines that earned top honors.
