Read the President’s message- Get the scoop on the newly elected board for 2019.
Membership Dues- Support Sacramento Home Winemakers by joining or renewing your annual dues. The 2019 membership dues remain at $50 per household (thanks to the generosity of members and a budget-minded leadership team) and are due January 1, 2019. Annual membership is effective from January through December in same year, regardless of when you join. Membership perks are many including: a one-year six-issue subscription to WineMaker magazine; discounts at retailers and labs; “members only” benefits to SHW’s lab testing services, educational opportunities; access to the Club’s network of mentors; having your wines evaluated; and exposure to the collective wine making knowledge and experience of over 170 members.
Please use the membership form that’s included in this issue of The Grapevine. The form is also available at the SHW website: sachomewine.com. August 2018 The Grapevine is filled with Club information – read all about it!
The August 15 SHW meeting features Ryan Sherman with Fields Family Winery and Vineyards in Lodi. Ryan will be talking about native fermentations. If you’re thinking about making wine with indigenous yeast, don’t miss this meeting.

The June 20 meeting is the evaluation of 2017 red non-Bordeaux variety wines. If you haven’t bottled yet, please do so without sulfites. Bring two 750 ml bottles and don’t forget your wine making notes.

Special notes … no wine analysis service in May. Jubilee wine entries accepted through May 16 at May SHW meeting and at Auburn, Roseville, Davis, and Sacramento locations. Make your reservations for the June 10 Jubilee Picnic and Awards Ceremony by June 5.
SHW’s been busy! Check out the April 2018 The Grapevine to see what the Club’s been up to.
The Jubilee, SHW’s club-only wine competition is on Saturday, June 9 followed by the picnic and awards ceremony on Sunday, June 10. Thanks to generous supporters at Club fundraisers and the careful management of the Club’s budget, the first wine entry for each membership is at no cost and additional entries are only $8 each.
The Cellar Master will start accepting entries at the April 18 meeting. Competition rules and registration can be found here.
