Posting on behalf of SHW President Robert Wharton:
Over the past few days several SHW members have reported receiving email requests from me, Robert, for gift cards and money wires/transfers. Please understand that NONE of those messages come from me. I will never ask you for money or items of monetary value (e.g. gift cards). If you are ever in doubt, please contact me to verify authenticity of the message prior to taking action. Otherwise, delete the message and go on with your day. Please don’t forward the messages to me as there is little I can do to stop them. Awareness is the best defense in this case. Cheers…Robert Wharton, SHW President.

This Wednesday’s meeting features winemaker extraordinaire Chik Brenneman who will talk about varietal characteristics of Syrah and will also bring 3 Syrahs for us to taste.
Chik was a SHW member before embarking into the world of commercial winemaking. Progressing into higher education, as the Winemaker for UC Davis, Chik was instrumental in building a world class campus winery to further the education mission of UC Davis. His most recent commercial adventure is with Baker Family Wines in West Sacramento where he’s the winery’s vintner and baseball legend Dusty Baker grows grapes for the brand.
Please bring 2 wine glasses to the meeting for your use; Club glasses are for guests. Also bring your 2020 membership forms and dues – look for Membership Co-Chair Christa Ring. Thanks for helping set up and clean up at the meeting, and consuming responsibly.
Non-members: $15 meeting charge.
25 cases of antique green burgundy bottles for $6.00 per case.

Periodically Enartis hosts webinars on different topics of interest to the winemaking community. While intended for the commercial winemaker, home winemakers such as ourselves can also benefit from this information. Their next webinar, How to Avoid and Treat Reductive Wines, will be held Tuesday, January 21st from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. PST.
To register for this event, go to https://enartiseducation.clickmeeting.com/how-to-avoid-and-treat-reductive-wines/register.
SHW does not endorse Enartis but is simply publicizing their activities which might be of interest/benefit to our club members.
