Need a Refurbished 60 gal French Wine Barrel from reWine?

Club Member Bill Kemper wants one and is looking for others to go in on the deal as the company wants to sell a number of them to afford the sales tax in California. In the past they have been about $325 each (actual price will be determined by the number of barrels ordered,
and whether the owner has enough barrels to deliver them himself, or whether we have to pay shipping for the barrels.

Bill intends to discuss this further with the owner of ReWine at the Unified Grape and Wine Symposium this week. If you are interested in getting in on this buy, contact Bill at the contact info below, he will co-ordinate the order.

The Sacramento region’s weather forecast / warning for Wednesday is a wet and increasingly windy storm. Austrian and German Wines – January 16 Meeting

SHW kicks off 2019 with the return of Scott Harvey, owner and winemaker of Scott Harvey Wines. With over 40 years of winemaking experience both in the States and Europe, Scott artfully blends food-friendly old and new wine styles. Bring 2 wine glasses for you and come learn about and taste Austrian and German wines. No charge for members; $15 per non-member.

If you haven’t already, join or renew your annual Club membership. More membership info and 2019 membership form can be found here.

Dick Minnis, wine judge, author, and home winemaker, will be at the January 16 meeting to invite SHW members to enter their wines in The Bottleshock Open, an educational home wine competition. The competition is now accepting entries and we make it easy for you to submit your best – Dick can deliver your bottles with completed paperwork and entry fees.

Dick also wants to share information about a barrel, whom his distillery neighbor uses, that has a stainless body with wooden heads. He will bring a model to the meeting for us to check out, and please do so at the end of the meeting.

The January 16 meeting starts at 7pm upstairs at the Turn Verein located at 3349 J Street in midtown Sacramento.
