Shaker Ridge Vineyard in El Dorado has grapes for sale:
1.5 tons barbera $0.95/lb
1.5 tons primitivo (late harvest) $0.95/lb
Two 200-lb lots of mixed Portuguese varietals. $250/lot
The barbera chemistry as of 9-22-18 was as follows: 27.9 brix, pH 3.21, TA 0.95. It would still work as a dry wine but will be moving into late harvest territory soon.
We don’t have a recent primitivo chemistry, but estimate 28+ brix and late harvest-style ripeness.
The mixed Portuguese varietals are in a great spot for ripeness in the next week or so and will work as a dry wine or Portuguese-style port blend. The fruit is from our Quinta block except the tempranillo which is from an adjacent couple of rows. The fruit will be a mix of 5 varietals in the following order of abundance: touriga nacional > tempranillo > tinta cao >souzao>tinta amarela (we’ll be able to give exact %’s at pickup). The price is $250 for a 200-lb lot, and we have two lots available.
