John Troiano, former SHW member and winemaker for Wreckless Blenders, is the meeting’s evaluator of member’s 2017 non-Bordeaux red wines. “Non-Bordeaux” for this meeting’s purpose are those varieties not grown in France’s Bordeaux region. Bordeaux varieties include cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, malbec, and petit Verdot.
If you made a red in 2017 other than what’s listed above, bring a couple 750 ml bottles to the meeting for evaluation. John can help make your good wine better. If you think it’s not so good, he can walk you through some fixes. If you haven’t already bottled, please do so without adding sulfites (otherwise, all we’ll be tasting are the sulfites). Check in with Cellar Master Joe Morgan and complete the wine evaluation form at the meeting if you haven’t already done so (we’ll need 2 copies – one for you and one for John).
Thanks to everyone for bringing 2 glasses for your use. We appreciate your help in setting up and cleaning up at the meetings. Please consume responsibly.
The June 20 meeting starts at 7pm upstairs at the Turn Verein at 3349 J Street in midtown Sacramento. Doors open slightly after 6:30 pm.
