Re Wine, barrel conditioners offers SHW members special pricing on reconditioned full-size French oak barrels of $250. Stop by their booth on the second floor and learn about their special toasting technique.
Curious about what other home wineries look like? Wondering how you can make your winemaking space work better for you?
One of the more popular past Club events has been the Home Winery Tour… but this event has fallen off SHW’s social calendar. We’d visit three home wineries observing each winery’s physical set-up. The event would then cumulate at the third winery destination with a potluck and party.
We’d like to bring back this fun experience with your collective help. SHW has grown in the past few years so we’re looking for different ways to again offer this casual time to mingle and learn.
Maybe the tours could be smaller, or specialized (bedroom conversions, tuff-sheds, garage build-outs). We could be roaming the hills of Granite Bay or walking in midtown Sacramento meeting up for tapas and wine at the end of the tour.

Happy New Year!
SHW starts off with the return of A.J. Comfort, consultant-winemaker, who will be sharing his secrets for making good wines and plans to talk about fermentations, differences in yeasts and ML bacteria, use of oxygen, and different wine styles. Meeting starts at 7PM upstairs at 3349 J Street, Sacramento. Please bring your wine glass and an optional bottle of wine to share.
Starting this year, SHW is issuing membership cards; please pick up yours at the meeting if you’ve already sent in your 2014 dues. This is a members-only meeting so if you haven’t yet renewed, thanks for bringing your membership form and dues to the meeting. If you’re planning to mail your dues, please note that the SHW mailing address has been changed to: SHW, P.O. Box 632, Roseville, CA 95678.
